Massing of the Colors 2020
Welcome to the 2020 virtual Fort Des Moines Museum and Education Center Massing of the Colors ceremony. Massing of the Colors is a patriotic ceremony held to rededicate our faith in the United States, and to present our support to the National Colors and the Servicemen and Servicewomen those Colors represent. These ceremonies usually involve color guard units from: Active-Duty, Reserve and National Guard military units; Senior and Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) units; armed services auxiliary organizations; state militias; veteran and civic groups; police, sheriff, and fire departments; and Boy Scout and Girl Scout organizations (from The Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW)). Color guards were invited to participate by submitting video and pictures, as we prepare to support our veterans and celebrate this year's Veteran's Day.

An unforgettable show! Bringing together diverse communities through their music, dance, and songs. A New Day/Un Nuevo Dia demonstrates the love, joy, and equality of this holiday season. It retells the timeless story of the Nativity, the birth of Jesus through Jose and Maria migrant laborers headed South and the birth of their child that pulls communities together. As the author and illustrator Don Bolognese states "To all children, our hope, and to keep that hope".
